A Boom Barrier works by controlling the movement of vehicles through an automated lifting arm that opens and closes based on access permission. In its normal state, the barrier arm stays lowered to block entry. When a valid signal is received—such as from an RFID card, remote control, license plate recognition system, or loop detector— the motor activates and raises the boom arm, allowing the vehicle to pass. Once the vehicle has crossed, sensors or timers trigger the arm to automatically lower back into position. Safety features like obstruction detection, loop sensors, and soft start-stop mechanisms ensure smooth, reliable, and secure operation. In the event of a power failure, the barrier can be manually lifted using a manual override key.
